Submissions
Current Theme: Daily Commute to Work
We are looking for raw and expressive work with a bit of grit and charm. We aren’t overly concerned with policing submissions with the critical eyes of a grammar Nazi. However, use your spell check and don’t submit anything crappy. We are seeking poetry and fiction. At this time The Portland Commuter is not able to pay for accepted works but look forward to doing so in the very near future when possible. We will create a page and bio of each accepted author and provide you with a link for you clip listings.
Short Stories – Please send short stories as a Microsoft word document, 12 pt font, double spaced, and a short bio. Simultaneous submissions are welcome but please notify us immediately if the work has been accepted elsewhere.
Poetry – Please send 1-6 poems (3 page limit per poem), 12 pt font.
Photography –We are seeking images involving “The Daily Commute.” We encourage photographers to submit imagery that interprets the daily grind in an unique and unusual way. We look forward to reviewing your interpretations.
Visual Artissts –We are open to illustration, painting, design, and other visual art forms. Please check for the upcoming theme for each issue before submitting. That will be the ultimate influence on what we decide to accept at any given time. The theme will always be “Daily Commuting.” However, we will bend and twist the theme from time to time.
Miscelaneous –If you feel that you have something worth submitting that is not mentioned above, please send a query to Bobby Travis
Please send all submissions to: The Portland Commuter
Include “Submissions” in the subject line. Happy writing.
